Sell earliest-expiry stock first in your pharmacy

How Ghana pharmacies keep batch and expiry on the POS, sell oldest first, and block expired packs at scan.

Pharmacist scanning a batch on the POS

Record the batch before it is sold

Write the batch and the expiry date when the stock arrives. The pharmacy batches screen then lists expired stock, and stock expiring within 30, 60, and 90 days. That list is where you check what is close to expiry. The POS does not show a separate warning when you scan.

The POS sells the batch that expires first

When a product has batches, the sale takes the one that expires first. With the usual pharmacy setting, staff confirm a batch. The list starts with the one that expires first, and they can pick another. Expired batches stay off the sale. That block is on by default.

The online shop uses that stock list

Everyday medicines can sell on the online shop. A prescription item needs an approved prescription on the order. When that order is fulfilled, the sale uses the batch that expires first, the same way as the POS, for products that track batches.

MoMo and e-VAT stay on the sale

Cash, MoMo, and card close on the pharmacy sale. GRA e-VAT applies when that completed sale includes the buyer’s TIN. A receipt with no buyer TIN is not submitted.
